England's Under 17 side made history this afternoon by winning the UEFA Under 17 European Championship for the very first time, and helping them all the way to their historic victory were Baggies duo George Thorne and Saido Berahino. England's youngsters beat Spain 2-1 in thrilling match in Liechtenstein.
George Thorne, who impressed Roberto Di Matteo enough last season to gain a first team debut at Sheffield Wednesday last season, made a 67th minute entrance to the game. Thorne appeared in all 5 of England's fixtures, starting twice and making substitute appearances in the other three.
His fellow team mate Saido Berahino also bagged himself some glory during the tournament. Although he made just one appearance - a starting place in the final group game against Turkey, he grabbed the important equaliser.
Both youngsters collected winners medals, which for Thorne was his second medal in a month, having also bagged a runners up Championship medal for the part he played in West Brom's promotion winning season.
