Injury woe for Baggies

Barnett - injured

Albion may well have found a winning streak at home of late, but recent injury problems look set to give manager Tony Mowbray a bit of a selection headache over the next few weeks. Worryingly, it is the defence that seems to have taken the brunt of the injury crisis of late.

Mowbray currently only has Ryan Donk and Pele as fully fit centre backs.  Leon Barnett was added to a growing injury list during Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough, he has been ruled out for at least two weeks with a hamstring injury, and Jonas Olsson is still undergoing treatment for tendonitis.

Defensively Mowbray also has to deal with absence from Abdoulaye Meite, who has a calf injury, and Gianni Zuiverloon who is suffering with a knee problem.

But despite the setbacks Mowbray is confident he does not need to find defensive cover during the January transfer window.  Both Meite and Zuiverloon are expected back in training during the course of this week.

Additionally, James Morrison and Luke Moore are recent add-ons to the hamstring hit list, as well as Ishmael Miller and Neil Clement who are both ruled out for the season.
