Marek Cech considers Hawthorns exit

West Bromwich Albion's £1.4 million summer signing Marek Cech has admitted today that he has given serious though to quitting the Hawthorns due to lack of starting opportunities. The defender, signed from Porto by Mowbray during the summer break, left behind regular starts in League and European football to play in the English Premier League.

But the defender is unsettled by the lack of opportunity he has received to play for Albion, losing out to first team regular Paul Robinson.

Cech stepped into the starting line up for Albion's 2-0 victory over Spurs on Sunday, replacing the suspended Robinson at left back.  The first start he has had since the opening day of the season.

Adamant he has no personal issues with gaffer Tony Mowbray, he commented that his biggest concern was for his International career.  Lack of performances at club level could pose a threat to the Slovakians chances of being selected for his country, an issue he is simply not used to.

Insistent that he is professional in his career, Cech was optimistic about his contribution in Sunday's game - where he assisted in both of Albion's goals.  He also has the utmost respect for counterpart Paul Robinson.  But he is clear on his ambitions.  A place on the bench will not keep him happy, and he either plays or goes.
