Baggies look to have lost out on Carsley deal

West Brom look to have lost out in a bid to bring Everton Midfielder Lee Carsley to the Hawthonrs. Tony Mowbray is believed to have bid for the 34 year old who can leave Goodison Park for free when his contract expires in the summer. But Carsley who favours a move back to the Midlands to be closer to his family is believed to be considering an offer from Birmingham City instead.

Mowbray had hoped that the lure of staying in the Premiership would be enough to secure the signing of Carsley.  Valuable on experience, the Baggies are believed to have offered the midfielder a one year contract.  But this is the same as the offer the player turned down with current club Everton.

Carsley is believed to have been offered two years at St Andrews, and whilst meaning a drop to Championship football, offers Carsley the opportunity to return to his home city.
