FA Cup round up: Thanks for the ride!

A visit to Wembley is the stuff dreams are made of. The FA Cup dream may well be over for Albion fans after defeat to Portsmouth, but what a ride it's been. This afternoon's defeat of Barnsley by Cardiff City, another 1-0 game, means that this years FA Cup final sees two English born managers go head to head for the first time in 17 years.

So it wasn't to be for the Baggies, the side who ironically boast a better FA Cup history than all of the other 3 semi finalists put together.

This will be Pompey's first FA Cup final for 69 years, having only won the contest once before in their History.  West Brom have lifted the trophy a total of 5 times, but the chance for their 6th came to an end yesterday after a 1-0 defeat at Wembley.

West Brom have scored an incredible 16 goals in this years FA Cup competition, with an additional 4 penalties on top of this in their 3rd round replay with Charlton Athletic.  A goal yesterday would have seen the Baggies notch up a remarkable 100 goals in all competitions this season, but they will have to wait until their visit to Blackpool on tueday night for the chance to bag the century.

Astle Central would like to extend their congratulations to West Bromwich Albion for their great cup run, and also to Barnsley.  The best of Luck to both Portsmouth and Cardiff City for the upcoming final.
