Taboo Motorsport had another successful race weekend, at the fourth round of the British 125cc Championship, with Michael Hill coming home in a point scoring fourteenth place. The weekend got off to a good start, with a successful qualifying session. “Qualifying went well. The bike felt strong, and the internal changes to the gearbox and ignition that Pete Banks made prior to the event really improved the bottom end and acceleration,” explained Hill. “I have lapped two seconds faster than I did last year, and equalled my best ever qualifying time.”

The weather conditions were variable throughout the weekend, and race day was no exception - leaving the track damp but drying. It was time to play the tyre lottery and, thankfully, Hill came out on top. “I took a gamble on race tyres and went for slicks, even though it was still a bit damp, but as it turned out it was the right decision,” he said.

Starting from twenty third, Hill took it steady on the opening lap and made good progress throughout the race. “I held my position off the line for the first couple of laps, and then once I had settled into a rhythm I ended up in a three way battle for the points. I took fourteenth place on the penultimate lap and held it to the flag,” he beamed.

“I’m over the moon with the result, as it gives me ten points in the championship and moves me to eighteenth in the series too,” said Hill. “We have more development work planned before Mondello Park, but I’m really pleased for the team! It shows we can be competitive in the wet and the dry.”

The next round of the championship sees the paddock depart for Ireland, with the Taboo Motorsport team looking forward to it. “We’ve been top twenty all weekend, so it would be nice to continue that in Ireland,” he concluded.

The next round of the British 125cc Championship will take place at Mondello Park in Ireland, on the 19th-21st May.
