Warren Steele suffered a mixed weekend for results. Making his début on the 450 Husky, Warren was keen to see what it could do. He was unable to match the super quick speed from Ady Smith’s KTM and Leighton Haigh’s Honda. Steele had a DNF in the first race, after a spectacular crash landed him head first into one of the table tops. Warren remained a little dazed in the following races and was unable to gain the results he would have liked.

Managing to push the Husky to two thirds, he was content with the results, commenting “I only got my hands on the 450 the other day, and this is one of very few that have been produced. We have a lot of development to do on the bikes but two thirds is a good start for me.”

Heading into the Open Races on the Monday, Warren was hoping for a bag full of points. Disaster struck in the first race, when he collided with the back of Honda’s Leighton Haigh. Stalling his 520 Husky and snapping the kick start, he was unable to restart the bike and another DNF was on the cards.

Due to the DNF, Warren had to start race two from the back of the grid. Battling his way through thirty riders, he pushed himself to a very creditable fourth place. By race three he wanted a win badly, and gained a good start. Snapping at the heels of youngster Christian Iddon, it was looking like a close fought race. However, a front wheel puncture was soon to put an end to his chance of victory pushing him back down to third.

By the final race he was motivated to gain a win and was determined that the number one trophy would belong to him. A good start and a lead and things were looking well. Honda’s Leighton Haigh pushed his way up the inside and gained the advantage. A battle ensued and Steeley was adamant that Leighton would not get away. A daring last lap manoeuvre saw Warren victorious, crossing the line as the eventual winner.
