During the final day’s testing at Jérez all of the MotoGP riders were out to win the BMW Z4 M Coupé on offer for the fastest on the day, in a special 40-minute qualifying shoot-out. Former World Champion Valentino Rossi was in scorching form, not only winning another coveted prize, but also setting a new unofficial lap record of 1min 38.394 secs, previously set on a 990cc machine.

Having been outpaced by his team-mate Colin Edwards during previous practice sessions, and the previous winner of the BMW Sports Car last year, Valentino has made another psychological advantage over his rivals - with Dani Pedrosa being his only threat during the shoot-out, with Colin a close third.
