Panasonic Toyota Racing started their Italian Grand Prix weekend in traditional fashion, with Friday tester Ricardo Zonta going fastest in the final session. The Brazilian wheeling his Toyota TF105 round the legendary Monza racetrack finished a second clear of his nearest rivals.

On a hot and sunny Friday morning, many of the teams, including Toyota, opted to remain in the garage to preserve tyres and engines having already collected date from the Monza test. This mean’t the first session was dull to say the least, with the top five being a mixture of McLaren’s and Williams BMW’s. Ricardo Zonta completed a truck load of laps to finish sixth, a clear two seconds behind the fastest McLaren, whilst Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher completed installation laps to round out the top 25.

The second session, again in glorious sunshine, saw a lot more activity, with each driver completing enormous number of laps by the chequered flag. Ricardo Zonta again completed the vast amount of laps for Toyota, and added another fastest time to his name, clearly quicker than anybody else during the session. Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher would complete a far amount of laps in their Toyota TF105’s, to finish eighth and fourteenth respectably.
