It would be honest to say that Mika Salo has been a bit bitter towards Toyota F1 since he was dropped from the team. Not only has he hit out at the team's 2003 chances, but also new face Cristiano da Matta. Now the bitterness seems to have faded, and Salo has his sights on the future. The Finn's strongest link has been with ex-BAR boss Craig Pollock. Pollock and backer Kevin Kalkhoven have entered a new CART team, PK Racing, racing with just one Lola Cosworth chassis. Another former BAR face, Patrick Lemarie, will drive the chassis and Salo is eyeing the second seat should it become available.

Salo and Pollock have kept good relations over the years, with Salo answering the call from BAR recently when regular driver Ricardo Zonta injured his foot in Brazil.

"I'm not ready to quit, I still want to race in single- seaters, I want to see if there's anything available in CART," Salo has been recently quoted as saying.

Mika was present with PK Racing at Sebring, when the new CART team first started their testing programme. "The team signed Patrick a few months ago. I am here to keep an eye on them and see if we can do anything about entering a second car," he admitted to the press there.

Salo has also entered the 12 Hours of Sebring race, where he'll drive an Audi R8 for Audi Sport UK, and has also been linked with DTM this year.
