Day 2 of the test at Barcelona saw many of the major teams out on the track, and many expected da Matta's fastest lap of Sunday to be a one-off. The Brazilian rose to the challenge recording the third fastest time of the day. Cristiano completed 135 laps on Monday allowing the team to plow through a packed schedule of set up work and tyre testing. After the session Cristiano confirmed that the new car felt good right from the off on Sunday, and that there is yet more speed to be found. "From the moment we started testing on Sunday morning, I found the car nice to drive here," da Matta said to Toyota-F1.com .

"It had a good balance right away, and quite a lot more grip overall compared to last week. Still, it was my first run on this circuit with the TF103 and, of course, we have some room left to play with set-up adjustments and in other areas, but I am pleased with the progress accomplished in just two days. It is always rewarding to see that this feeling is confirmed by some competitive lap times as well and I am very happy that I feel better and better every day in the car and within the team."

Olivier Panis takes over driving duties tomorrow (Tuesday) and on the final day on Wednesday.
