Jenson Button may have lost second place in the Malaysian Grand Prix due to Toro Rosso's Scott Speed failing to move over when being lapped, at least according to the British driver. Speaking directly after the race Button commented that he "got held up by quite a big margin, quite a few seconds, just before I had my second stop which cost me a lot of time. Maybe that was enough to come out of the pits in front of Fernando."

The driver doing the holding up was American Scott Speed, in only his second Formula One race. Jenson closed up on the Toro Rosso car quickly, but was then forced to sit behind the V10 powered car for some time.

Honda Racing F1 boss Nick Fry backed his driver, saying "Jenson was definitely annoyed. He has had a few words and made his feelings clear. When someone is being lapped they need to get out of the way. As long as Scott learns and gets out of the way in the future it will be a step forward."

No driver is ever ready to accept blame for an incident, and Speed is no different. "That's ridiculous," he told The Mirror. "I got a call on the radio and two corners later I let him by. I was the one who got held up, by Sato, for three laps. Button lost second place by something like five or seven seconds.

"Come on... I've done nothing wrong. Once he calms down he'll realise it wasn't a big problem."
