BAR Honda's Anthony Davidson is unlikely to be driving in the Chinese Grand Prix, leaving Takuma Sato in the seat for his final outing with the team. Despite reports from the British media, notably the Daily Telegraph, saying that BAR Honda are considering a race outing for Davidson, we believe that the team are keen to retain Sato in the seat, especially as Honda are pushing for the Japanese driver to find a seat elsewhere.

Davidson is certainly keen to race, telling The Times that he's "never been more ready. My problem is that people doubt whether I can race. They know I have the speed because they have seen me in testing. But I have to prove that I am a racing driver and not just someone who pounds around lap after lap."

Should BAR Honda replace Sato, it would be reminiscent of 2003. At the last race of that season Takuma Sato was drafted in to replace Jacques Villeneuve, the Canadian deciding not race following his failure to secure a new contract with the team.
