Adam Carroll, member of the BAR Honda Young Driver Programme and Super Nova driver, commenced his GP2 Championship challenge today by winning round two of the series in Imola. From fourth position on the starting grid, Adam drove a solid race, disposing of Neel Jani and Alex Premat, to put himself second in the GP2 Championship behind Arden's Heikki Kovalainen.

By lap eight Adam had moved up to second place and a lap later, at the chicane, Adam confidently passed Premat to take the lead as he crossed the line at the start of lap 10. He maintained his lead for the rest of the race and went on to claim his first GP2 win, over five seconds ahead of Premat and Kovalainen.

Adam was delighted with his first win: "This weekend was great and it was very good to get back to racing. Everyone has been brilliant, both at the Super Nova team and also at BAR Honda, whose physio has been providing me with race preparation care and Senior Race Engineer, Jock Clear, who also heads the YDP, has been providing additional coaching. The race could not have gone any better for us at Super Nova. We started from fourth position on the grid and were confident that we had the pace to win the race. I pushed hard to pass the drivers infront of me and then kept the pace to ensure that I came home in front. Hopefully we can keep this up for the rest of the season; we couldn't have wished for a better start to the championship."
