Michelin has signed up a sixth partner team this season, in the form of Lucky Strike BAR Honda. Now forced to provide 6 of the 10 F1 teams, is this a pro or a con for the French tyre suppliers?
"There are very few disadvantages," says Pascal Vasselon, Michelin's Formula One programme manager. "Taking on a sixth team obviously means more logistical complexity and added resources, but the extra technical feedback a sixth team provides is more than adequate compensation.
"BAR Honda has given us a remarkable amount of data that has accelerated the flow of information to our development engineers – and that has helped us to ensure that we are working in the right direction.
"We have always believed that it is beneficial to work with as many partners as possible and this confirms as much."
