Lucky Strike BAR Honda's British driver Jenson Button has been given the all-clear to take part in this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix. Following a huge accident during Saturday's practice session at the Monaco Grand Prix two weeks ago, Jenson had to have an extra examination from the FIA's medical delegate Professor Sid Watkins, a leading neurosurgeon.

Speaking to the press at Montreal, Jenson said "I can't wait to get back into the car. I had a week off training so you are never going to be as fit as you want to be but since Monday I've been doing some training, light workouts, and it's been fine."

It's understood that Prof Watkins was seriously concerned at the possibility of 'secondary concussion', hence today's medical.

"It is a big issue and it can be very dangerous," admitted Button, "but two weeks is quite a long time, so it's not a major problem."

"I think it's only a danger within 48 hours or something," he added, showing just how much grasp he has of medical issues.
