The news that surfaced last week regarding USF1 led to many speculating they may be tempted to buy in to the Honda F1 team. On the surface, that looks like a reasonably sensible thing to do, even if you want to be 'Made in America'. Whilst there's problems at Brackley, the opportunity to get some state of the art facilities and hundreds of talented staff at a knockdown price can't be ignored.

Finding the backing for such an endeavour isn't easy right now. Ask any of the commercial directors in Formula One how things are, and you'll be told the markets are not slow, but absolutely static. One would assume that USF1 have some rather well funded partners then but, if it's the case that they're prepared to pay the setup and running costs, one has to ask why they wouldn't have been prepared to by Honda Racing F1?

The Brackley factory has everything you need to run a successful F1 operation, yet it's not been considered. In not doing so, they miss out on TV revenue, travel costs and so much more.

There's obviously something else going on at USF1, and that could be a shame for the Honda team in the UK.
