Links but no action

The papers continue to link the Blues with plenty of names, but there remains little action from Goodison. Still, at least there's Twenty20 cricket to pass the days until late July....

Moyes himself stated last week that he doesn’t expect much to happen until July. The ‘gaffer’ told www.evertonfc.com: "There isn't likely to be much happening until July."

It seems that the whole of football has gone to sleep. Where once the close-season was rammed with transfer activity this year it seems that no-one can be bothered. Even with 500 odd free transfers available there’s little commotion in the footballing world. Eric Hall must be losing his touch. The summers where Jerkan, Dumitrescu, Poborsky, Boogers, Futre and Pierluigi Casiraghi were paraded holding their new clubs scarf seem a long way off.

Recent rumours have included Keith Gillespie, Rob Hulse, and French goalkeeper Nicolas Penneteau. The last one is a strange link even if, as expected, Gerrard departs considering the Blues already have Wright, Simonsen and Turner. A possible explanation could be that for some reason the French media have got the idea that any Frenchman struggling to make an impact can come and pick up a hefty wage packet on Merseyside…… I wonder how they’d come to that conclusion?!
