The Blues crashed out of the FA Cup to a Nigel Jemson double at Gay Meadow. Jemson's late goal won the game for Shrewsbury 2-1 after Alexandersson had cancelled out the former Forest striker's opener.

Moyes took nothing away from his old club Shrewsbury, who by all accounts deserved their victory. He stated,

“Shrewsbury deserved the victory – there is no question about that. All credit to them, they created chances and I hope they go on to do well."

“We are disappointed. We should be capable to come to Shrewsbury and win but today we were just not good enough.”

So well done to Ratcliffe and his men. It's just a shame that we had to be the club that proved that the magic hasn't gone out of the FA Cup. It's no win in five now for the Blues and the defeat means another trophyless season. I guess we'll have to use the old adage "We can concentrate on the league".

It is crucial that the Blues get back on track or all of the hard work that has gone into the season so far will be wasted. The only route to Europe is through preserving our league position, but with injuries and suspension going against Moyes this may prove to be a struggle. Moyes is not a man who takes failure very well, and hopefully he can stir the Blues on to another winning streak. While we may not have any cup competitions to play for, we do have the objective of finishing above the R-S.
