The Blues shattered the record of 51 years without a league victory at Elland Road, and once again it was young Wayne who was the hero.

The Moyes revolution showed no signs of slowing as the Blues made it three wins on the trot. Rooney struck with ten minutes left with a classic strike. He picked the ball up 30 yards out, beat two men and struck it past Paul Robinson to provide Moyes with a superb three points. The run was so good it prompted the ITV commentator to shout "He's left Bakke on his face".

By all accounts the Blues were the better side, and Leeds had Robinson to thank for keeping them in it. But all the headlines will be about 'Roonaldo' who is becoming increasingly hard to under-hype. The Blues are up to sixth.

Moyes reflected after the game; “Today was about a team on form and playing for each other. Because of the work rate of all the players it allowed Wayne a bit of space to get the winning goal and he was the first one to thank everyone for giving him the opportunity."

“It was a centre-forwards goal. He picked it up, ran at the defenders and put it in the back of the net. He deserved it and I thought we deserved it too.”

On Rooney he stated, “It’s great when you have got a matchwinner you can bring off the bench but at the moment because of his age we are just trying to make sure he is getting the right amount of football."

“And thoughWayne will probably get the headlines again but Tommy Radzinski and Kevin Campbell were fantastic. They both looked after the Leeds defenders as well as creating chances.”
