In a leading move the side which will play out of the new White Rock stadium from next season has decided to ditch the Neath-Swansea tag from next season, for details read on.

THE Neath-Swansea Ospreys will be known as just The Ospreys from next season, in a bold move that is sure to put pressure on Cardiff Blues.

The Celtic League champions have decided to drop the first part of their name because they want to embrace the new Bridgend section of their region following the demise of the Celtic Warriors.

The dropping of the Cardiff part of the regional name has been called for by valleys followers ever since the Warriors' demise.

Now the Ospreys, who have recruited fans and players from the Blues' area in recent months have stolen another march on the rest with what is a progressive step towards the full embracing of regionalism.

The move will delight Welsh Rugby Union chief executive David Moffett, who from day one of the regional revolution has wanted each team to be referred to without reference to the geographical areas.

Ill quickly get the "Its a cynical ploy" out of the way, wouldnt you pull out the stops like these if you had a new 20,000 stadium to fill? And where is the apology from Holley?

Anyway moving on its a move which will not cause much bother to Neath and Swansea fans and even if it brings in an extra 1,000 people from Bridgend and Aberavon then it worth it.

What chances for the other "Regions" to follow suit? Im willing to offer 100/1 they wont by the start of next season!!
