Former Warriors Head Coach Lynn Howells reveals in tonights Echo he would be keen on a return to Wales. For the full story and reaction read on.
LYNN Howells wants to return to Welsh rugby - just three months after defecting to Italy.
Howells insists he IS still enjoying the experience with minnows Leonessa, who are based near Lake Garda in the north of the country.
But he has revealed that the job is not challenging him like he envisaged it would when he took the plunge.
"If an opportunity arose back in Wales I would take it now," he explained.
"Don't get me wrong, I am still enjoying it here and the way the people look after me is superb.
"Our results have not been great.
"But then because we have not spent the money the top clubs over here have, we must expect that - and I think the people in charge understand.
"The problem for me at the moment is that the standard of the rugby and the refereeing is worse than I thought it would be.
"For that reason it is a bit frustrating. The coaching side is not taxing me enough right now."
Now Howells says he would be vulnerable to any overtures to return.
"If there was a good team manager's job available I would be interested," he said. "Or even better a coaching position."
Zippy Reaction
It seems Lynn decision to leave Wales was made in haste, he'd just had enough of the WRU and the way Welsh rugby was headed. It would seem that coaching in Italy wasn't probably the best destination for him. I hope he gets a chance somewhere, he is a proven quality coach.
