Today is the day that the Bridgend and Pontypridd players have been informed of their futures. A number of players look set to miss out on regional contracts (read on for list)with the newco and the biggest shock of them all is Gareth Williams who may now join Cardiff.

Gareth Williams to Cardiff?

Gareth Williams is believed to be making a move to Cardiff as he believes that competing with Mefin Davies for the number 2 shirt will mean one of the two talented hookers are going to miss out on regular rugby which could cost them their positions in the Wales squad.

Williams who has said that he has talked to Cardiff now looks set to join the Blue and Blacks whilst Mefin Davies will join up with the newco along with his Ponty understudy Matthew Rees who has been involved with the Wales squad training sessions this year and possibly they will be joined by Andrew Joy of Bridgend.

Williams, who has also played for Pontypridd in the past may have had some doubts about a move to Cardiff but the city side have signaled their intentions to bolster their pack by signing Ben Evans on a long term deal and there is talk of Llanelli's Martyn Madden also linking up with Cardiff.

Also, the Bridgend and Pontypridd players were today told if they will get regional contracts next season and there are said to be a number of shock omissions from the list. Lock Andy Moore, Tonga scrum-half Sililo Martens, prop Phil Booth and second row Ryan Jones are all believed to have missed out on contracts which will puzzle many supporters.

One other rumour that we have heard that hasn't been mentioned yet in the press is Swansea's Gavin Henson to the newco. Henson has been linked with several English teams including Leeds and Sale but perhaps staying in Wales will improve his chances of regaining a place in the international squad.
