Defeats to open the Celtic League campaign for both sides will place more importance on Saturday nights clash at Sardis Road. Read on for a match preview.
Match Preview : Newport R.F.C
Both Pontypridd and Newport found themselves defeated on the openning day of the season to Leinster and Bridgend respectively and as a result Saturdays game has been turned into a bottom of the table clash. However a win for Ponty will push them up the table and into the hunt for a place in the quarter finals of the Celtic League.
Newport will be fired up for the game on Satruday night, especially after their shock loss to Bridgend at Rodney Parade but Ponty won't let them have it all their own way. In Donnybrook last Friday night the Ponty pack came out on top against a strong Leinster pack and with the amount of possession Ponty had they will be wondering how they didn't win the game.
The match against Newport will kick off at 19.05 and will be broadcast live on S4C. Ponty are reported to have no other injuries other than Shaun James and Emyr Lewis who missed the first match and Newport may be able to turn to Ofisa Tonu'u to try and lift their game.
Overall, i'm sure that both sets of fans will be looking forward to a thrilling encounter between the two teams with Ponty hopefully coming out on top.
Unofficial Ponty Prediction
A close encounter with Ponty eventually coming out on top but failing to claim a bonus point.
Pontypridd 25 - Newport 17
