Tennents Scottish Cup, Second Round, Saturday 27 December 2003, Links Park, Montrose. MONTROSE 1 (Wood (85)) THREAVE ROVERS 0. The Mo face Livvy in Round 3... Montrose took a while to settle against the East of Scotland league leaders. Threave's Baker and Budrys were causing the home defence some problems and Butter had to make 2 saves at the feet of Threave, hurting himself in one of the challenges, to keep them at bay. However, Montrose eventually grabbed control of the game and carved out a number of chances. Kerrigan hit the bar with a curving chip with the keeper stranded and Black saw his shot spilled by the keeper with no Mo forwards chasing in.

By the second half, Kerrigan had moved forward and Smart came back into the right side of midfield. Sharp came on for Webster and Black,, playing the last game of his loan spell, moved into a central role. Montrose kept the pressure on and almost scrambled the opener but two goalline clearances kept the scoresheet blank. Craig Smart squandered a great chance when he blootered the ball over from close in after great work on the left by Wood.

Finally the deadlock was broken when Wood thumped the ball home from just inside the box with five minutes remaining.

Wood was substituted by Henderson soon after, then Farnan came on for Black and the Mo held on for a hard-fought victory.
