NEWI Cefn Druids have stepped up their search for a new manager by advertising the vacant post in a number of local and national daily newspapers.

Last week the Plaskynaston club surprisingly sacked manager Steve O'Shaughnessy despite him steering Druids towards their highest ever league position on a shoe-string budget. Many Druids supporters were shocked by the decision to give the ex-Oswestry boss the boot. O'Shaughnessy was equally stunned by the news and the timing of the firing.

Chairman Ian Parry told the Evening Leader "There has been a lot of Press speculation as to who will be appointed but we have no one in mind. The board is aiming to fill the position as quickly as is practically possible in order to give the new man time to settle in"

Several names have already been put forward, with ex-Wrexham manager Dixie McNeil and veteran club captain Aled Rowlands rumoured to be interested in the post.
