When the BBC screen the Welsh Premier match between Rhyl and T.N.S. live from Belle Vue on Sunday 11th April, we have a perfect chance to let the BBC know what we think of their 'coverage' over the past four seasons. If we unite we have a chance to make a difference - we may never get an opportunity like this again.

It seems ironic that the BBC are finally showing a Welsh Premier game live just a few months before their current contract runs out. With the Welsh Premier comes rights for Welsh internationals, and with the national team about to commence their World Cup 2006 campaign, it is obvious that the BBC are concerned about losing the rights to these matches now that a rival for the rights has emerged. 

That rival is SKY. They are reported to be lining up a £7.5million package to win screening rights for forthcoming Welsh internationals and coverage of the Welsh Premier League. That deal will include £1.5million going to Welsh Premier clubs in order for them to upgrade their stadiums to meet TV requirements. In addition, they will screen a 30 minute preview show on Friday nights, as well as an hour-long highlights show on Sundays.

Currently the BBC offer around 2 minutes of Welsh Premier coverage each week, and if you don't believe that is a fair amount of coverage for our national league then take your chance to let them know your views on Sunday, 11th April. Imagine the scene: hundreds of banners around Belle Vue - they'll be no way the BBC cameras can avoid them if we turn up in force.
