The game started against all the odds.  Strong gusts from the south, and torrential downpours could not halt this WPL fixture. Tony Pennock had not been sold to Chester, and started in goal for Carmarthen.  He started in goal in a no.21 top, but on asking him if he was celebrating his 21^st, his reply was, “I wish!”

Aber started brightly battling against the wind for the majority of the first half.  Spike headed just over the bar twice, whilst Baker had a free header just carried over (by the wind). Wright was out-competed by Reid, who at times seemed to like holding the marksmen back. A clear-cut opportunity came from a free-kick on the box edge, Lawless firing at the keeper with venom, and the keeper grasped the ball well.

The rain lifted for the latter of the half, and Carmarthen failed to capitalise on some wind-sloppy-and-provoked defending by an otherwise outstanding defence. The half finished 0-0.

The action heated up after five minutes of the second half. A blatant foul on lawless by the left corner was waved away. A further flying tackle on Lawless was met by the ref waving ‘play on’. Lawless quickly recovered possession, charged at the Carmarthen defence, rounded Barnhouse, skimmed past York, and fired straight past Pennock to give Aber the advantage.  Carmarthen looked Shambolic for a few minutes, a Bari Morgan cross was slid in by Spike to double Aber’s lead. 

A third attack however, produced an excellent opportunity for Wright to glide the ball home for three. He just missed the connection, and Carmarthen escaped.

Jones was forced off with an ankle injury (forced into the side fencing, under Burke). 

Ged Hennigan was met by a welcome return to action, cheered on by the crowd.  

Carmarthen, 2^nd from bottom in the league, a quality team, a poor run, and Barry Town were heard to be drawing 1-1. The battle had begun, Rossiter hit the ball as a cross, the wind carried it into the Aber goal, Worsnop stranded and very unlucky.

Carmarthen fought hard with valour but could not snatch the equaliser.  Pennock being of no use to a corner attempt in the last gasps of the game.
