CAERSWS  0 ABERYSTWYTH  0 - MATCH REPORT
Both teams retained their unbeaten record at the Recreation Ground in Caersws this afternoon, in a thoroughly entertaining game which was played at a fast pace end to end throughout, despite the pitch being on the
slippery side due to rain falling during most of the first half.

The first attempt on goal came as soon as the second minute, when Lee Spike had a header held by the Bluebirds keeper, Andy Mulliner. Three minutes later Aberystwyth made another attempt when Glyndwr Hughes put a free kick from Lawless wide of the near post.

The Bluebirds made their first foray goalwards on 8 minutes, when Kevin Scott sent a rasping free kick wide with the keeper still lining up his wall. Scott followed this four minutes later by having a shot pushed wide by Aber keeper Worsnop following a cross from Dylan McPhee, who was making his league debut for the Bluebirds.

With the game settling into a midfield battle, the Seasiders' Andy Lee saw a shot pushed over by Mulliner on 28 minutes, and five minutes later, following a scramble in the home goalmouth, Marc Lloyd Williams saw his shot clip the post and go wide.

Home keeper Mulliner then produced an excellent save, denying Lee once again in a one-on-one situation. On 40 minutes Caersws midfielder Kevin Scott's long throw was headed by striker Andy Marfell to the oncoming Graham Evans, whose header was comfortably saved by the Aber keeper.

With the sun coming out in the second half Aberystwyth pushed the home team back and dominated the first 20 minutes, the dangerous Lawless having a free kick pushed wide after 47 minutes, and on 59 minutes Glyndwr Hughes headed on but Lee Spike headed the ball wide of the Caersws goal.

Aber had their best chance of the afternoon on 65 minutes, when Marc Lloyd Williams pulled the ball back to defender Chris Short, but Short shot wildly over when he really ought to have tested the Caersws keeper.

Caersws came back strongly in the last 20 minutes of the game, with both Andy Davies and Graham Evans having shots deflected in quick succession.

Caersws had the ball in the back of the Aber net on 85 min when it hit the post and bar and gone in following an Alex Fletcher long throw. The Assistant Referee signalled a goal. The referee, Andy Woodthorpe went over to consult with his assistant, amid vociferous protests from the Aber players surrounding them. The referee then disallowed the 'goal', adjudging that it had gone in without having been touched, direct from the throw in.

Caersws were not disheartened, and continued to push for the winner, and an excellent run by Andy Davies saw his cross headed narrowly wide by Graham Evans at the back post.

This was a superb game, watched by a large crowd who all went away happy and considering it a fair result. As a matter of record this was the first 0-0 draw between the two teams in the League since it was formed, and the eighth game since Aberystwyth last beat the Bluebirds.
