Fergie and Keegan Defend W.P. from Barmy Bond.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Kevin Keegan have sensationally defended the Welsh Premier, after the league was recently criticised by ex Swansea and Man City manager John Bond in 'Wales On Sunday'. CARLOS EDWARDS

FERGIE AND KEEGAN DEFEND WP FROM 'EXTINCT' BOND
High profile managers Alex Ferguson and Kevin Keegan have both leapt to the defence of the Welsh Premier, after ex-Swansea and Man City boss John Bond criticised Wales' domestic league this week.

Bond controversially slated the Welsh Premier in this week's 'Wales on Sunday' saying "While teams like TNS have holes in their bums, they'll never compete in Europe. If the FAW think that teams will gradually evolve and develop into sides capable of competing on a European stage, when they come from Welsh villages and are supported by 500 people, I'd say the fellas are living in cloud cuckoo land." 

However, two of Britain's more successful managers have today defended the league. Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan was full of praise for his club's UEFA Cup rivals TNS.  "I have much respect for our opposition who are from the fastest developing European league", said the ex-England boss. "They are a tough team to break down, full of spirit, and fully professional."

Keegan was also keen to distance himself and Manchester City from Bond's comments. "John Bond served well for both Swansea and here, yet his current opinions are as old as dinosaur droppings, and equally as stench-ridden. To make a comment about a Pro side like that, coming from a Pro background like this, is unjustifiable. Myself, and Man City are in no way connected to John Bond's comments. Just like James Bond, his opinions are extinct."

And if that was not enough, Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, was also full of praise for the League, after a strong Man Utd side were held to a 2-2 draw by ambitious WP outfit Connah's Quay Nomads. Sir Alex has stressed that 'the WP has made great strides in just ten years'. He also said that 'all clubs in the WP should make strenuous efforts to qualify for European competitions to increase both profile and potential.'

After Bond's damaging comments in this week's 'Wales on Sunday' it is good to see two high profile, and much respected managers leap to our defence. Hopefully Bond will  keep his mouth shut now he has took his money and run from the 'Wales On Sunday' - who do little to promote the league in a positive light themselves.
