Rushden and Diamonds thrashed in worthington cup

Rushden suffered their worst ever defeat at the hands of Coventry at highfield road in the Worthington cup 2nd round, in an 8-0 thrashing that saw Hunter and Dempster both sent off. It was an injury plagued side that the first division side went on the rampage with, with Lowe, Darby and Underwood all missing. Wardley and Hall were given the duty of strikers and clearly were no match for the solid Coventry defence.

The best thing that the diamonds fans could come away with was the fact that they outsung the Coventry supporters, which was fantastic to say the least. To watch your team being slaughtered this way and to keep the vocals going was a credit to us all.
