This is all about emotion. The emotion of playing the Champions. The emotion of playing one of our biggest local rivals. The emotion of the FA Cup. The league match at the Lane in November was an emotional affair. Tottenham came back against the odds that day to secure a famous win.

Monday 19th March 2007.
Tottenham Hotspur Versus Chelsea.
FA Cup 6th Round Replay.
White Hart Lane.
K/O 8.05pm.
Live on BBC1.
 
This is all about emotion. The emotion of playing the Champions. The emotion of playing one of our biggest local rivals. The emotion of the FA Cup. The league match at the Lane in November was an emotional affair. Tottenham came back against the odds that day to secure a famous win. A win that broke a hoodoo that the Blues had had over us in 20 years. The match that day in November was sensational. The FA Cup 6th round match at Stamford Bridge just over a week ago was just as sensational.
 
Leading 3-1 at half time everyone I spoke to in the Shed End that day knew the game wasn't over. We have been watching Spurs for far too long to know that 3-1 up away from home (and against Chelsea to boot) was not as comfortable as it would appear. Another goal would be needed. And the way we were playing that was not out of the question. Nearly. Lennon through on Cech's goal with five minutes of the second half on the clock...if he can just slide this away...Nooooo! Ghaly with the rebound, to Defoe...Nooooo! The clock ticked down and Chelsea surged forward. First Lampard from a corner, the Kalou unmarked in the box. Scant minutes left. Defoe on the right. Surges forward. Mido in the middle. Defoe shoots....it beats Cech...and cannons off the crossbar. Back to the lane it is.
 
Eight days later and Spurs have disposed of Sporting Club Braga and Watford. Chelsea have seen off Manchester City and Sheffield United. Two days rest for both clubs and now the big one.
 
Nothing I write will be able to sum up what this game means to both clubs. The passion and energy that will run through White Hart Lane on Monday night if bottled would be enough to power and small country for a year. Neither team will give an inch. No supporter will be unmoved. Blood, sweat and tears will flow. The fact that Blackburn await in the semi final for the victorious team seems immaterial. I don't care about Blackburn. I just care about beating Chelsea.
 
Sing up, be proud, and lets give 'em one hell of a game.
