Rudolph, who hit 92 in the first innings, and Dippenaar put up a stand of 90 in 18 overs with both batsmen reaching half-centuries.

Rudolph reached his in an hour and a half from 70 balls with all but six of those runs coming from boundaries.

Dippenaar reached his 50 from 58 balls with seven boundaries and a six.

In the closing overs before stumps Kent claimed two more wickets.

Rudolph miscued his shot to leg and was held at silly point by Alex Loudon off James Tredwell and in the next over Neil McKenzie (five), a centurion in the first innings, played on to a ball from Rob Ferley.
