Swansea ended their six-match winless run as Alan Tate's late goal secured a vital 2-1 victory against Leyton Orient.

Lee Trundle's 12th-minute opener gave City hope of their first three points of 2004 as he pounced from a Brad Maylett corner.

Orient midfielder Wayne Purser thought he had bagged a point for the Londoners when he levelled on 31 minutes before Tate struck with just nine minutes to go.

Brian Flynn's side got off to a flying start and Andy Robinson threatened to break the deadlock on a number of occasions in the opening stages.

But it was Trundle who got on the scoresheet, thrashing the ball home after the visitors failed to clear their lines.

Neither side registered many chances after the break and the game looked to be heading for a draw before Tate slammed home from a scramble in the visitors' area.
