These are some of Graham Allners post match thoughts following the encouraging, but disappointing defeat to Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Graham told the official site that he thought "we deserved something from the game" which after you hit the post and dominate is a fair comment.

He seemed frustrated by the fact that Cheltenham squandered several chances- Victory missed a header from 6 yards and Lee Williams hitting the post - whereas Tranmeres one moment of quality in the match led to the winning goal. He said "They produced a goal out of nothing with a quality finish and we were not able to do that".

Like in the Barnsley match Allner wasn't satisfied with the passing in the final third "I still felt, particularly in the 1st half, that we got ourselves into good positions in the attacking third of the pitch but our passing let us down". Hopefully that is something that will be worked on in training this week.

Allner praised the back four of Cheltenham who were brought for less than £20k between them whereas Tranmere forward Simon Haworth cost Rovers £500k alone "I also thought are back four were superb today and have been for the last two games". Richard Walker inparticular looked solid alongside Mike Duff and it will be hard for club captain Chris Banks to get back in the team when he is fit.

The Robins gaffer backed Lee Williams although he missed a one on one chance 5 minutes before Tranmere scored the winner, he told the official site that "Lee Williams was very unfortunate with the chance that hit the post. I thought at first that he was going to go round the goalkeeper and he did well to get past him".

Allner says that "our last two performances have been very encouraging". The Robins faithful will be hoping that these encouraging performances will be turned into points starting with Plymouth at Whaddon Road on Saturday.
