Although Martyn Margetson is out of a contract, he still hopes to sign again for town... Town had put in a third offer for a new contract last week but Margetson's agent said that a deal would be made when the town keeper arrived back from his hols. But the negotiations had been dragging on so long, partly due to both parties, that an end was called to it.
Now he says he wants to stay at the club and is very disappointed that the board withdrew their offer. Stop messing us around Margo!. He now hopes that the new manager will want to see him to discuss a new contract. But if I was the new manager I wouldn't jump at it because there are probably several good goalkeepers around on frees at the moment.

Margetson was an excellent shot stopper but many fans thought he was a bit shaky on crosses from open play or set pieces. Surely not a recipe for the defence to have confidence at the back? I suppose it's a balance between how many goals he saved by good shot stopping and how many were conceded by his lack of command in the area. I suppose he does not really fit the bill and maybe it is time for a new keeper?
