Look around on F1 forums and you will see Fernando Alonso fans doubting the Spaniard's decision to ditch Renault next year in favour of McLaren. Alonso has won two out of three races so far in 2006, leaving critics unsure if McLaren was the right step.
"I am convinced of the fact that no other team develops a car faster. I chose them because, next year, they will be the best," he said of McLaren.
Talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fernando also has faith in the Mercedes power "I think that, in the second stint of the V8-era, they will be the team (to beat)."
Reports also say that he admitted Renault's uncertain F1 future was another factor in his decision.
