David Coulthard is one of them. Juan Pablo Montoya is the other. The difference is that Juan leaves Williams BMW to come to McLaren, to take David's seat. David's future is unknown. David has driven for McLaren longer than anyone. It's hard to believe, but David has driven for McLaren for almost a full quarter of the time that McLaren has even existed. In Formula 1, that's rare. These days, it simply doesn't happen.

It must be hard to go in knowing it's your last time driving for your team. For DC, it just might be his last time driving, period. That said, it does put DC in the possition of having absolutely nothing to lose.

Having struggled last year with the one lap qualifying, it's going to be critical for David to improve in that area this season if he's going to have any chance at getting a ride with another team. With qualifying the way it is, and the race strategies the way they are qualifying is more important than ever. If DC can't improve in this area, his chances are slim of landing another ride.

In short, DC has to get the lead out. He's been good for McLaren. We owe him our thanks for many years of great service and in bringing McLaren 2 constructors titles and helping Mika to 2 Championships. We here wish you the best David.

But here's one more small thing from all of us to you David:
Remember when you were younger? Remember when you drove each lap like it was your last? Remember how you had no fear then...and how winning was the only thing you wanted to do?

NOW is the time. There is no tomorrow.
