Britain's Lewis Hamilton has won three Autosport awards at a ceremony last night at Grosvenor House Hotel, in London. Hamilton won the award for the best rookie of the year, British Competition Driver of the Year and International Racing Driver of the Year, after an excellent first season in F1

Sister of the late great Ayrton Senna flew to London to congratulate Hamilton on his briliant first season in Formula One. He reminds me of Ayrton, as a pilot. And he has the same kindness in his eyes,” she said.

Hamilton won the awards for rookie of the year, best British competition driver and best international racing driver.

Hamilton had this to say on his hard-earned awards. “I’m just as nervous standing up here now as I was then," said Hamilton. “This has been an incredible year for me. To get to my first Grand Prix and get on the podium was amazing, and it just got better and better. By the mid-point of the season I realized I had a chance and that I shouldn’t mess around."

In other news Lewis Hamilton narowly lost out to the Stig and Nigel Mansell on the BBC Two motoring program Top Gear, the 22 year old finished just 0.4 seconds behind the Stig even though he was racing on a wet track with a little bit of oil, just to make things that little bit harder.

Testing will start tomorrow with Pedro de La Rosa and Gary Paffett in action.
