Vodafone McLaren Mercedes test and reserve driver Pedro de La Rosa has told reporters he wants to see Fernando Alonso drive in one of the McLaren MP4-23 next year. Fernado's future at the Woking based team has been under doubt after his attitude towards the team suggested that he was unhappy at McLaren and may move teams.
Spains Pedro de la Rosa has stated that the atmosphere inside the team is like Fernando is not going to move teams for 2008.
Pedro told Canadian radio station Cadena SER "If you ask me what I would do, I would stay, because McLaren has proved to be a competitive team and Fernando is a born winner."
Throughout the year Fernando Alonso has critizised his team for possibly disadvantaging his car to aid Britains Lewis Hamilton, who has a long history with the McLaren team.
"Well, in the end you need to be happy with what you are doing, Nobody (at McLaren) is saying that Fernando is going to go. In fact, everyone is working as if he is going to stay." Pedro said.
Will Fernando stay or will he move? The team have given him two weeks to make his descision.
