McLaren Need More Pace

The Spaniards comments came after their successful race in Australia at the Albert Park circuit. McLarens pace is up to the Ferraris pace in the three qualifying sessions, but the race is McLarens disadvantage, they are losing out by tenths of a second.

"We came here to win the world championship," Alonso said. "We seemed to be pretty much equal in qualifying though in the race we weren't as quick as Ferrari. It will be something we are trying to get improved. Two or three teams can fight with Ferrari at the moment in qualifying, but in the race no-one can challenge them at the moment."

"We will now try to improve the performance of the car. I believe the car will very soon become quicker and I'm sure there is more in my hands in terms of driving. We keep learning with these new Bridgestone tyres, so it was difficult to manage the tyres in the race, and I hope I will improve day by day."
