Hinds stars in Trent Bridge thriller

The Trent Bridge regulars were royally entertained as Nottinghamshire and West Indies A combined to produce a day in which 399 runs were scored and 14 wickets fell.

Resuming on 149 for three, Nottinghamshire eventually declared their first innings on 287 for nine after opener Vikram Atri had played the innings of his life. The 19-year-old made 98, including 16 boundaries, before falling agonisingly short of his century when caught off left-armer spinner Ryan Hinds. The young Barbadian finished up with three wickets and then continued his fine form with the bat, coming in when the tourists were rocking at 57 for three.

Hinds, who has played two Tests for the West Indies with a highest score of 62, hit nine fours and two sixes on the way to a 75-ball 73 as West Indies A gradually clawed back the deficit.

After swift contributions from Devon Smith (31 from 21 balls) and Runako Morton (33 from 31 balls) they declared on 223 for eight in the hope of engineering a result on the final day. But they could not forge a breakthrough in the 7.4 overs before the close as Guy Welton (8) and Bilal Shafayat (18) guided Nottinghamshire to 38 without loss at the close.
