Italian Francesca Schiavone advanced into the second round of the Modena International; the top-seed beat Marlene Weingartner of Germany in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 on Tuesday. Zi Yan of China ousted the fourth-seeded Marta Domachowska of Poland on Monday in three sets 2-6, 7-6 (5) and 6-1. Schiavone defeats Weingartner in Modena
