Former world number one's Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Amelie Mauresmo and Venus Williams reigned supreme in their second and third round clashes at the Nasdaq 100 Open, Miami, Florida Henin-Hardenne started things off with a comprehensive win over Nura Llagostera Vives 6-3, 6-2 and continue her comeback from injury, then Kim Clijsters and Amelie Mauresmo emphatically romped through to a fourth round berth. Clijsters still on her comeback trail totally outplayed 12th seeded Nathalie Dechy 6-0, 6-2 with Mauresmo smashing Anna Smashnova the 30th seed 6-2, 6-1.

Venus and Serena Williams look to be in peak form at the right time, Venus crushed Fabiola Zuluaga 6-2, 6-0 and Serena had few problems against Israel's gutsy Shahar Peer 6-3, 6-3. These pair will be lining up in the quarter-finals if they overcome their next hurdle.

In the next round they will meet Catalina Castano and Elena Likhovtseva respectively. The Columbian Castano's impressive run continues with victory over Patty Schnyder.

Maria Sharapova, Anastasia Myskina, Alicia Molik, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anna Ivanovic were other straight forward winners to advance into the fourth round.
