Callens, who according to herself had her best results from 1999 to 2004, said the physical and mental stress is getting too much for her sometimes being on the tour. She is however not totally lost for Belgian tennis because she has plans for the future. One of those plans is helping youngsters to the top, she said that she will always be ready to team up with them for doubles matches at tournaments. But playing singles on the tour again is out of the question after October.

Just before she leaves the tour the WTA did not take up her biography in the WTA Tour Media Guide. “I was somewhat disappointed with the fact that they don’t promote the lesser gods and youngsters, they should also be in the guide. I think it's wrong”, Callens said, who is known to be straightforward and honest in her comments. “What if people like Sharapova fall away, they still can count on the players that are below that level”.

She did earn a good bit of respect on the Tour from colleagues and players. Callens said that her parents taught her to respect everybody. “Everybody is equal no matter if you are at No.1 or No.1000, I have always been realistic about such things that went on while touring”.

“This year I want to enjoy every bit of being on the tour because next year it's not possible anymore, I will be doing some practice sessions in the sun somewhere possible. This weather we have here is not the best weather for a tennisplayer, we travel with the sun”, she added.
