In the first round of the Richard Luton Properties Canberra Women’s classic Michaëlla Krajicek, last years number 1 for under 18’s, easily defeated Aussie Wildcard Lauren Breadmore.

The 21-year old Breadmore, who currently sits in 340th position in the world rankings, had no chance against Krajicek’s excellent serve and punishing groundstrokes, leaving her hapless for most of the match resulting in a 6-1, 6-0 beating.

In the second round Krajicek will most likely face Marion Bartoli of France, who, being in 41st in the world, will be a much sterner test for the yesterday turned 16 youngster.
