Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia won the ASB Classic in Auckland. She defeated Japanese Shinobu Asagoe in three sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-4. Srebotnik overcame a thigh injury before winning her third WTA Tour title. “Miracles happen, right?” said Slovenian Srebotnik after finishing her final against Japanese Asagoe, "That's why I want to thank the WTA trainers. I think they've done a miracle right here."

The WTA trainers on the tour can do miracles sometimes and this time they had the power to get Srebotnik back onto the court.

Earlier Srebotnik had to play her match against Marion Bartoli of France. It took her 2,5 half hours to beat her in three sets. In the evening she was scheduled to play her third match of the day partnering final rival Asagoe in the double final.

Due to her busy schedule of the day Srebotnik did ask a lot of her body and the WTA Tour trainers. "All I could do was just keep running and running and running, and I think I made quite a few miles today," Katarina Srebotnik said after her marathon match.
