Qualifier Jelena Jankovic of Serbia and Montenegro defeats Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova in two sets, 6-1 and 6-4. Order of play for Friday October 8. Jelena Jankovic (SCG) comes from being a qualifier into the quarterfinals of the main draw. She took care of Daniela Hantuchova in the first set with ease and to put up a harder fight in the second set but still won it 6-4.

Jelena Jankovic will meet American Lindsay Davenport who is playing her best tennis of the season.
