(Antwerp) Belgian Els Callens defeats French Emilie Loit in two sets. The 33 year old from Antwerp hammered Emilie Loit in the first set, 6-1 but needed a tiebreak for the victory 6-6 (3). Loit could not find a way to fight off the Wild Card Callens. Els Callens said she earned the Wild Card more than ever. She said she played very good specially in the first set.

“I showed the audience a good match and playing in the Antwerp Sport Paleis always makes my skin crawl. She feels she gets a lot of support from the homecrowd.

At the age of 33 she still feels she is improving her game and her goal is to finish around the 50th place on the ranking at the end of the year. She is now ranked at #69.

She is also pleased to play doubles with Cara Black at this tournament, they have never played together but she happy to play with Black.
