Second seed and defending champion Lindsay Davenport successfully defended her Pan Pacific Open crown easily dispatching Bulgaria's Magdalena Maleeva
Davenport who has now won this tournament 4 times, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004 has been in tremendous shape all week. She broke Maleeva's serve at 3-2 then went on to seal the first set 6-4.
The second set was even more impressive from the American firing aces and poweful groundstrokes. The pair have had classic matches before but this time around Maleeva was no match for the former world number one losing 6-4, 6-1.
The question is can she make it 3 in a row next year or will this be her final appearance in Tokyo?
